Poetry & Jazz Gig with John Harvey 29 December - Postponed until 2018

The gig with John Harvey at the Underground Theatre Eastbourne on Friday 29 December has been postponed but a new date will be announced shortly in 2018.

Watch this space but in the meantime may we wish you the very best for the festive season and for 2018 and hope to see you at our last gig of 2017 on Friday 22 December at Chapter 12 Wine Bar, Hailsham (see gig list)

Ray's Jazz in Foyle's Friday 24 November 2017

The gig with John Harvey was an absolute blast but affected by a false alarm in Oxford Street Tube station which closed the nearby tube stations and Oxford Street. A great pity but if you missed this gig we will play another date at the Underground Theatre in Eastbourne on Friday 29 December.

Poetry and Jazz at Ray's Jazz in Foyles with John Harvey

The superb wordsmith and performer, John Harvey, joins the band this Friday 24 November back at Ray's Jazz in Foyle's Charing Cross Road for over an hour of poetry and jazz.

The event will celebrate the publication of John's latest book of short stories Going Down Slow which he will read two short selections from as well as poetry from his previously published works. John will be accompanied by the JLT trio featuring John Lake on piano, Matt Casterton on bass and Simon Cambers on drums plus Phil Paton on sax to add verve in the form of 50's bebop jazz alongside original tunes from the pen of John Lake.

Bach a la Loussier

The first performance of the trio performing Jacques Loussier's arrangements of J.S. Bach's music will take place on Wednesday 6 September in St Nicholas Church, Brighton.

Come and hear the rarely performed interpretations of this modern master of Bach's music played by John Lake on grand piano, Keith Goddard on bass and Dean Morris on drums.

The lunchtime concert starts at 12.30pm and is free with donations welcomed on exit at 1.15pm. All welcome and you are invited to bring your lunch to eat during the concert.

More dates for the trio at the Grand Hotel Brighton

We are delighted to be booked for four more dates at the Grand Hotel, Brighton which offers an upmarket experience with great cocktails a fully equipped bar and superb snacks and meals in the restaurant.


The trio will be playing a different mix of modern melodic jazz, some original tunes and a some pop tunes in a jazz setting.

A delicious serving of modern jazz and poetry created by the award winning author (best-selling Charlie Resnick series). A layer cake of John Lake's original jazz will be followed by a poetry “jam” in the middle from John Harvey's published works - at times the two intermingle to form a mouth-watering combination.
This event has been supported by a Brighton Lions award.

A New Chapter for Chapter 12 Wine Bar

The trio, featuring Oz Dechaine on bass, Simon Cambers on drums and John Lake on keyboards, will be playing the recently expanded Chapter 12 Wine Bar in Hailsham on Friday 7 April.
